Miss Mann is currently organising a volunteering expedition to South Africa for pupils in Years 11, 12 and 13 in Hethersett old hall school South Africa expedition July 2014.

The trip is being coordinated with the help of HOHS old girl, Alex Plowright, who runs a volunteering company based in South Africa and Mozambique.

The company, Mozvolunteers, undertakes community, medical and conservation projects with the help of volunteers to improve the quality of life for people in the local area.

The trip, which will last between 15-16 days (depending on flights), will see pupils spending 5 days volunteering for a variety of worthwhile projects, such as working in an orphanage, doing community work or helping with a small-holding.

The rest of the time will be spent experiencing all that South Africa has to offer, including: a ‘Big 5′ safari, a Khotso horse trail, hiking, a Sunset Lake boat cruise, a day trip to Lesotho and a chance to enjoy the wonderful beaches in Durban.

In keeping with the ethos of this trip of ‘giving something back’, we are asking pupils who would like to go, to fund raise the majority of the cost of the trip themselves. This should make the trip an even more rewarding and challenging prospect for those taking part.
