‘Inspirational’ Loretto Hockey Coach chosen for Olympic Torch Relay

Loretto School’s Head of Hockey, Neil Allan, has been chosen to carry the Olympic Torch during its relay through Edinburgh and Musselburgh. Neil has been selected due to his inspirational work with young people over the past few years.

Only a carefully chosen 8,000 inspirational people across the UK will carry the Olympic Flame during the Torch Relay. Their personal stories will have the power to inspire millions of people watching around the world. The Olympic Torch Relay route has been planned so that the Flame will come within ten miles of 95 per cent of people in the UK. It will pass through Edinburgh and Musselburgh on 14th June, day 26 of the 70 day relay across the UK.

As well as being Head of Hockey at Loretto School where he is responsible for developing Hockey throughout Loretto from the Junior School to the 1st XI, Neil is a high performance coach for Scottish Hockey and is currently Scottish Hockey Coach of the Year. Neil has played for 3 National Division Hockey Clubs and has played Junior Representative Hockey. Additionally, Neil has played Top Division Hockey in France and New Zealand.
