Students at Stonyhurst have been celebrating their successes today, as results for the International Diploma Programme were published across the world.

Frederic 4Stonyhurst’s top performing student, Miss Chiara Longo (17) from Italy, achieved 40 points out of 45, which puts her into the top 3% of candidates in the world. Chiara said, “”The two years I spent attending the IB program at Stonyhurst College were the most challenging yet rewarding of my life.” Chiara will go on to study Law at Durham University.

Headmaster of Stonyhurst College, Mr John Browne said, “Stonyhurst has a long tradition of forming young people as men and women for others.  I am always inspired by and proud of our young people who work hard to become contributing members of society. Achieving excellent results like these – when we are not a selective school, and 92% of our students studied the course and took the exams in their second language – is extraordinary and I am delighted for them. I know they will all go onto university and adult life from Stonyhurst with confidence and become positive agents for change in the world.”

Director of the Stonyhurst IB programme,  Mrs Debbie Kirkby said, “”I am very proud of Stonyhurst’s IB students. The IB has prepared our young people for life beyond school; and they have benefited greatly from the diversity of experience that an IB Diploma brings.”

Stonyhurst IB students have secured places in a wide variety of subjects at universities across the world including Chemistry with Management at Bath, International Management at Kings College, London and Film Production at Chapman University, California.
