170525_Prop Great HallKent College Canterbury is delighted to announce the construction of the Great Hall,  which will begin in spring 2018, providing cutting edge facilities for worship, concerts and the performing arts.

Following local consultation, planning permission has recently been granted for the state-of-the-art 600 seat auditorium providing space for the whole school to worship, underlining the importance of the Methodist ethos for the school.

The Great Hall is another step for Kent College in building a world class campus and it will be used as a versatile and practical space for the school’s highly regarded drama and music departments and for the wider local community.

The purpose engineered space has been 3 years in the planning and draws on the latest in architectural design having the ability to expand or contract it’s foyer, reducing the seating to 389 for smaller performances and create space for exhibitions, galleries or entertaining. The building itself has a low-energy passive labyrinth heating and ventilation system, photo-voltaic cells and will be built to comply to the highest level of sustainability standards.

The Great Hall project is a reflection of the high level of confidence which the community has in Kent College.  This is due to excellent pastoral care and focus on the development of students as individuals, often requiring bespoke programmes, resulting in impressive success both academically and in other fields; placing Kent College amongst the best schools in the country.

Executive Head Master, Dr David Lamper said; “We look forward to welcoming you to a cornucopia of superb concerts and theatrical performances when the Great Hall is completed in 2019”.
