Kent College: Call for Entries for the Young Fashion Designer UK Competition

Kent_College_YFD_UK_LOGOIs Fashion Your Passion? Do You Dream Design? Is Your Talent In Textiles?  Yes, then we want to hear from you.

The annual Young Fashion Designer Competition UK was created to discover emerging fashion, design and textiles talent nationwide amongst GCSE, BTEC, IB and A level students.

Since its conception in 2010, the competition has already highlighted the design skills and shaped the careers of some of the previous winners across the UK. The Young Fashion Designer UK Competition continues to build momentum amongst the two regional centres, Kent College in Pembury for the South and Royal Worcester Grammar School for the Midlands and North.

Kent College is now open for submissions from all schools in the South catchment area. Applications are now open to students studying fashion and textiles at senior and secondary schools based in the South of England are now invited to enter this exciting competition and entries are open until Saturday 24th May.

Students who enter are in with the chance to win the following prizes and shortlisted students will have a fantastic opportunity to attend the Finals on Saturday 5th July 2014, to exhibit their work, enhance their creative flair and build on their knowledge by listening to and meeting industry experts with a range of experience from fashion blogging to buying, pattern-cutting, costume design and fashion marketing.

The judging criteria is based on finding the student who best demonstrates original aesthetic flair, combined with capability for future critical distinction and commercial success. The winner’s work must also evoke the spirit of individuality and therefore, project a sense of style and craftsmanship.
