Kent College Pembury Achieves 52% A*-A Grades at GCSE

Kent College Pembury GCSE Results 2015Kent College’s Year 11 girls collected their GCSE results this morning, to find they had contributed to another year of tremendous achievement. Following on from last week’s A Level results, the GCSE results were again excellent with 52% of all entries awarded the highest A* and A grades. The independent day and boarding school in Pembury is proud to declare another year of robust performance, with 82% of exams graded A*, A or B, and 96% A* to C, epitomizing the hard work of all the girls and devoted staff.

Outstanding results were seen in all subjects, highlighting excellence across the curriculum. Particular congratulations to the Drama and Latin departments who were thrilled by the attainment this year; 90% of girls were awarded A* or A in Drama, and three quarters of girls achieved an A* in Latin.

Recent years have seen a popular and burgeoning Sixth Form at Kent College and it looks likely to be another bumper year again as this strong cohort of GCSE students springboard to commence their A Level studies. Parents and girls have praised the school for the wide variety of subjects it offers for A level learning, as well as its commitment to tailoring each programme of study to suit girls’ individual needs.

Interim Head Tony Kirk-Burgess comments:

“Once again we are delighted with this year’s GCSE results, which represent the hard work of the girls, as well as the support and inspiration provided by a highly-qualified, dedicated team of staff. I am looking forward to seeing the girls blossoming further in our Sixth Form in September.”

Head of Performance and Creative Arts Gilly Thorpe commented:

“I am so proud of all the girls this morning. These results reflect the girls’ commitment and passion for their subjects. It is gratifying to see the hard work of all the girls and their teachers has paid off.”

Head of Classics Antonia Hutchinson commented:

“We’re absolutely delighted by another fantastic set of Latin results, and immensely proud of the girls’ achievements.”

Particular congratulations to sixteen-year old Samantha Haftke who achieved 10 A* and 2 A grades. Samantha who was thrilled with her results commented:

“I am so overwhelmed by my results, I can’t thank the teachers enough for all their help and support. I would not have been able to achieve what I did without them, and I look forward to starting Sixth Form in September.”

Millie Ironmonger also aced this summer’s examinations with 8.5 A* and 3 A grades commented:

“I am so happy all the hard work has paid off. Our teachers have been fantastic and really gave us that extra push to succeed and to fulfil our true potential.”

Anabel Ellice who achieved a super set of results, gaining 5A*, 5 A and 1 B commented:

“I am so happy, I cannot believe it! Thank you to the school and my teachers for helping me achieve these results.”

Katya Baker who achieved a fantastic set of results with 5A* and 4.5 A grades commented:

“I am so pleased with my results, the teachers have been so supportive. If someone told me in Year 7 that I would be standing here today with these results I would have not believe them. Thank you to Kent College for supporting me throughout the last 5 years. I look forward to the next few.”
