Increase in top GCSE grades at Kent College Pembury

Kent College continues to celebrate their record breaking summer results by announcing outstanding GCSE grades. The school in Pembury has increased on last year’s results with 53% of grades being awarded A* to A, including 22% at A*. The results show strength across the curriculum, with an average of more than ten GCSEs per girl the first time in the school’s history. Excellence has been seen in subjects such as Drama, Geography, German, Maths and Science, with a stunning 40% of girls achieving A* for English.

The school, which is a leading HMC independent day and boarding school for girls, has proven top results which speak for themselves and represent the hard work of students supported and inspired by a qualified, dedicated team of staff including published authors, research scientists and award winning athletes.

Kent College’s performance continues to accelerate upwards, with a set of exceptional value added scores across the curriculum. This verifies the school’s academic offerings and unrivalled pastoral care which really make a difference.  The 2014 results provide the girls with the perfect springboard to commence their A Level studies in September, with Kent College being praised for their choice of accommodating subjects offered at further education.

‘KC girls are now doing more subjects at GCSE and doing better at them.  We continue to grow academically without having an exclusive intake and I am really looking forward to having these successful GCSE candidates as KC sixth formers in September.’

Particular congratulations to sixteen-year old Lucy Rycroft who achieved a clean sweep of 11 A* grades. Lucy who was thrilled with her results commented:

‘I am delighted with my results, thank you so much to all my teachers. I am really looking forward to KC Sixth Form and to focus on the subjects I love.’

Catherine Munnings also aced this summer’s examinations with 6.5 A* and 4 A grades commented:

‘I am so happy all the hard work has paid off. Our teachers have been fantastic and really gave us that extra push to succeed and to fulfil our true potential. My sister has just left KC after achieving amazing A2 results, she has told me all about KC Sixth Form and I can’t wait.’

Alice Finta who achieved a super set of results, again, gaining all As and above with 9A* and 2A grades, comments:

‘I am literally speechless. Wow. Thank you so much to all my teachers, staff and a great year group. I have decided to stay at KC Sixth Form because they offer a fantastic choice of subjects which they timetable to suit my study needs. I’m looking forward to my continuing my journey at this school.’
