Kent College Pembury BBC Radio 2 500 Words FinalCongratulations to Iona Cowie, aged 13, who was is in the final of BBC Radio Two’s 500 Words competition last Friday.

“We had a lovely day at St James’ Palace. Although Iona’s story was not one of the three eventual winners in her age category, we still got to meet Chris Evans and his team and see how they put together a radio show live!

The Palace was beautiful and during the radio show there were performances from Will Young and a gospel choir, as well as The Vamps.

At the Reception afterwards, we got to speak to the celebrity narrators (Barney Harwood, Charles Dance, Sir Kenneth Branagh), the Judges (Charlie Higson, Francesca Simon and Malorie Blackman) and the pop stars.”

A fantastic achievement celebrated with a memorable day out! There is still time to read Iona’s short story here; http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/2tKTdq38mT2rwTTVsrTP8Kl/the-armchair
