Students and families from Kent College are looking forward to the school’s forthcoming sports dinner and prize giving ceremony, with an uplifting talk from England netball captain Pamela Cookey.

Pamela Cookey will be the guest speaker at the senior school in Pembury’s annual event, which will take place on Monday 7th July. The evening sees honours, awards and achievements presented to current students for their sporting achievements in the academic year.

Second in PE, Nicky Denton:

“We are so excited about Pamela being our guest speaker at our Sports Team Dinner this year. She has reached the pinnacle of her sport and we cannot wait to hear about her journey to the top. The girls are so excited and really looking forward to meeting her.”

Pamela’s visit follows a recent week of celebrations when sporting ambitions were encouraged by high-achieving athletes Gail Emms, Bonita Norris and Gareth Thomas. The champions mentored students in a bid to encourage girls to keep active as part of the schools Fit for Life campaign.  A month ago Kent College launched an ambitious development project to match its ambitious ethos, with plans for outstanding new sporting facilities on the school site in Pembury giving the girls greater opportunity to grow and develop beyond the classroom. The proposed facilities include a second sports hall and all weather pitch which will transform fitness and sport, bringing benefits to every pupil aged 3 – 18.

Kent College has committed to the new sports facilities which will see an expansion on the school’s successful academic and creative development picture which has been achieved over the past five years. The new project will enhance the site at Kent College and allow every girl the opportunity to find a sport they love and to excel as talented sportswomen both now and into their futures.

Construction of the sports hall will begin this summer with completion anticipated for the start of the academic year September 2015.

Senior School Headmistress, Sally-Anne Huang:

Ultimately, it’s about the girls. Kent College’s developments, ethos and vision are all directed and stimulated by providing the best possible education for the girls, to prepare them for successful and fulfilling Lives. Kent College goes from strength to strength. We have come a long way, now we are poised to move forward again.”
