King Edward’s Witley has appointed a new deputy head.

Zeba Clarke has taken the position with immediate effect and joins from King William’s College on the Isle of Man, where her duties included head of English and academic enrichment.

She studied English language and literature, liberal arts and sciences and liberal studies at the University of Aberdeen and took her PGCE at Sheffield University. She later studied educational leadership and management at masters level at the Institute of Education.

The new deputy head also brings a wealth of international teaching experience with her, having worked for the European School Brussels II for nine years, with a further four years spent teaching in China. She aims to implement a strategy at the school for academic enrichment that includes both A Levels and the International Baccalaureate (IB).

Mrs Clarke said: “The move to King Edward’s is an exciting one for me. I relish the challenges it brings and welcome the opportunity to apply my skills and experience in a new environment. While there are some clear similarities between King Edward’s and my previous school, I love that King Edward’s offers pupils a choice of academic pathways ie A Level or IB. I’m also attracted to the diversity and international nature of the student population.

“In addition, the genuine commitment to the strong bursary tradition which is the cornerstone to the school’s evolution represents a progressive culture and one to which I wholeheartedly subscribe.”
