Boys narrow the gap at top grades but girls still remain in the lead
Students at King Edward’s Witley are celebrating record GCSE results this year. Bucking the national trend for falling higher grades, almost a fifth of grades achieved were the top A*, which represents a new record in the School’s history. The 2014 results also reflect the most impressive A*-C pass rate for five years and the second best ever. In addition, almost all pupils (93.3%) achieved five A*-C grades.
Personal triumphs included Josef Moore from Milford (7A*, 4A) and Anya Hoffmann de Visme from Godalming (6A*, 3A).
Commenting on the results, the Headmaster, John Attwater, says: “We are delighted with these results, which justly reward the hard work put in by students and the excellent standard of teaching at the School. It is really gratifying to see pupils of a range of abilities and talents fulfilling their potential and in many cases exceeding expectations. Of course, we are also pleased to be able to show that the School’s results are continuing to improve year on year. Naturally, exams are not the only measure of a good education, but they are important indicators of progress and our students can certainly be very proud of what they have achieved.”
