Students hoping to be in the Ten Tors 35 and 45 mile Teams showed their tough spirit on Sunday on the wild Kingsly School Train in the snowslopes of Dartmoor.

After checking the road routes onto the moors and meeting up with those who could safely travel to School, Andy Waters and Steve Whaley led the students on a day of navigation and fitness training.

The group completed a 20km circuit in temperatures of -4. Warm clothes, energy food and hot drinks were the order of the day.

Hard work was rewarded with stunning views across the bleak landscape around Princetown as the sun broke through dramatic skies.

It was very quiet in the minibus on the way home, all passengers sleeping!
