Eight year old Kinvara Garner, pupil at Moreton First school near Oswestry, has qualified for the Horse of the Year Show for her skills and those of her pony Basford Playboy. Only 20 children qualify each year, so this is an enormous achievement for Kinvara, especially so early in the season.
Kinvara and Basford Playboy recently also won and came reserve in two mini-championship classes of the Royal Windsor Horse Show, which has qualified them for the Royal International Horse Show in Hickstead in July.
‘I started riding at the age of 2 and have been training Basford Playboy for a long time now,’ says Kinvara. ‘The thing I love most about being with ponies? Well it’s just great fun and I’ve made lots of friends through it!’
