Lancing College A Level Results 2014Another Year Of Outstanding A Level Results At Lancing College

These are excellent examination results which further reinforce Lancing’s strong reputation for consistently high academic achievement, year-on-year at A Level.

  • Over half of this year’s candidates achieved A*s or As.
  • Nearly one fifth of A Levels taken were graded A*.
  • One candidate gained a clean sweep of 6 A*s.
  • Lancing’s average of A*-B grades for the last decade years is over 81%.
  • The average UCAS points score for our leavers was 356 which equates to grades AAA.
  • All of Lancing’s students who were offered places at Oxford or Cambridge were successful in meeting their offers.

The Head Master, Mr Dominic Oliver, comments:

“As the new Head Master at Lancing College there could be no better welcome than these A Level results. Our students have excelled in academic subjects across the board and I congratulate them wholeheartedly.

These results are the culmination of years of hard work both from the students themselves and a dedicated Lancing teaching staff whose expertise, dedication and enthusiasm brings out the best in every member of our community. The ethos here is to encourage a spirit of learning and self-discovery in every sphere and the grades we celebrate today are the happy culmination of a rich all-round pattern of achievement. As these young people move on to the next stage of their lives they will do so in the confidence that Lancing has given them the very best preparation for the challenges and excitements to come.”

Our successful students, most of whom live locally, include:

  • Triplets, George, Elizabeth and Daisy Parker from Worthing have all had great successes. George has gained 2 A*s and 2 As and will be studying History and Economics at Oxford. Elizabeth and Daisy will be reading History and Psychology respectively.
  • Ron Lam from Hong Kong, a brilliant mathematician who has been at Lancing since he was 13, has achieved 6 A*s and will read Mathematics at Oxford.
  • Richard Clarke from Worthing has gained 4 A*s and will read Natural Sciences at Cambridge.  He came to Lancing as an academic scholar and has played an active role in the choir and a number of musical ensembles as a percussionist and saxophonist.
  • Maksimilian Yuzhnyy from Russia achieved 4 A*s and 1 A and is taking a gap year.
  • Richard O’Neal from Southwick has gained 2 A*s and 2 As. He is taking a gap year and intends to apply to Oxford or Cambridge next year to study Physics. He is a music scholar who has been in the choir and has played regularly in concerts. He plays the oboe and cello at an exceptional level.
  • Ayane Semba from Japan achieved 3 A*s and 2 As.  She has a place at Oxford to read Chemistry.  As well as the science accolades she has won during her time at Lancing she was recently chosen as the Best Individual Performer at the College’s annual Dance by Design choreography competition and dance showcase.
  • Oliver Baker from Brighton is a very talented Art Scholar.  He has gained 3 A*s and has a place to read Physics at Oxford.
  • Megan Hanna from Warnham near Horsham gained 3 A*s and will be going to Exeter to read Economic and Finance.  Two pupils from Lancing are doing this course, the other being:
  • Jason Grinstead from West Grinstead near Horsham who achieved 1 A* and 2 As.
  • Lily Eustace from Shipley near Horsham who has excelled at art while at Lancing, achieved 2 A*s and 1 A and will be going to Bristol to read Art History.
  • Samantha Brooks from Chichester achieved 1 A* and 2 As and will be taking up her place at Exeter to study Liberal Arts.
  • James Bryman from Hove, who was Head Boy, achieved 1 A* and 2 As. 
  • Jasmine Yeung from Hong Kong gained 2 A*s and 2 As and will take up a place at Imperial, London to read Biochemistry.
  • Fred Stevens from Burgess Hill has achieved 1 A* and 2 As and will take up his place at Oxford to read Computer Science.
  • Eddie Worsdell from Yapton near Arundel achieved 1 A* and 2 As and will be going to Bristol to read Spanish and Portuguese.
