Llandovery College pupil musicYoung musical marvel Rachel Edwards from Llandovery College has been awarded three Grade 8 musical passes with distinction.

Rachel’s recent award of Grade 8 Harp with distinction follows her Grade 8 Singing with distinction which was hot on the heels of a Grade 8 Violin –also with distinction

Rachel, who is Llandovery College’s new Head Girl, has been a pupil of the College since Year 7 and is also a member of the Choir and the first XI hockey team.

Llandovery College’s Director of Music, Emma Bryden, said Rachel’s achievement was quite exceptional.
To achieve one Grade 8 with distinction is amazing but to achieve three is phenomenal. Rachel is a committed, dedicated and natural musician and we are all incredibly proud of her.

Rachel recently attended an annual Harp Masterclass in Cardiff led by Welsh harpist, arranger and composer, Catrin Finch. The week-long camp attracts harpists from across the globe.

Rachel was joined by Llandovery College Year 7 pupil Lydia Drinkall, from Crugybar, who was fortunate enough to get a place on the Harp Funday where 20 young harpists joined the Masterclass for tutorials with Miss Finch.
