Llandovery College Pupils Celebrate A Level Success

Llandovery College is today celebrating another year of A Level success with two top pupils securing their places at Oxford and Cambridge.

Olwen Wilson and Chris Williams will continue Llandovery College’s historic Oxbridge tradition after achieving some of the school’s highest grades. Olwen, who was Head Girl last year, was awarded 2A*s and 1A in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, while Chris scooped 2A*s and 2As in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics.

Olwen, from Tirabad near Llandovery, will study Natural Sciences (Biological) at Murray Edwards College, Cambridge and Chris, who is from Swansea, is to read Mathematics at Oxford.

Llandovery College headmaster, Guy Ayling, said the College was proud of Olwen and Chris and of all its pupils. “Today just shows what hard work coupled with inspirational and supportive teaching can achieve,” he said. “As a broad-ability school, we are immensely proud of Chris and Olwen’s Oxbridge success and just so of all our pupils who have done so well in their A Level and AS level examinations.

The school’s results show that 78% achieved A*-C grades with 10% of grades at A*.
