Lomond School Celebrate Excellent A Level Results

Lomond school  A level resultsLomond pupils have worked exceptionally hard to achieve excellent public examination results at S4, S5 and S6. At Higher 60% of grades were either an A or a B, whilst at Standard Grade and Intermediate 2 67% of the results were either a 1 or an A grade which is a tremendous performance for S4 pupils. At Advanced Higher 71% of candidates achieved either an A or B grade. These results represent hours of hard work and the investment of significant effort.

Pupils of all abilities have done exceptionally well with great effort over a sustained period of time and working closely with their teachers. Very many congratulations must go to the 25 pupils who gained 6 or more grades at A or 1 in S4 out of their 8 subjects, which is 67% of this year group. This is a superb set of results for them.

The following pupils will be awarded their Silver Academic Tie; Oscar Andrews, Rachel Armstrong, Isabella Bertiolli, Darrach Cawley, Kara Chivers, Christian Clark, Rowena Claxton, Iona Hamilton, Anina Hinds-Lang, Charlie Hordern, Harry Johnston, Andrew Lamont, Andrew McCollum, Jack McLachlan, Katherine McPhie, Lucy Metcalf, Lucy Mills, Oliver Monteith, Gordon Mortimer, Blair Perella, Isla Scott, Morgan Serpell, Harry Smith, Aidan Sutherland, Finlay Watson and James Woodward.

Equally at Higher 13 pupils gained 4 or more grade A’s in their first sitting, which is more than a quarter of the S5 year group. This is an exceptional achievement and this group will receive their Gold Academic Tie; Fraser Alcorn, Alisha Baird, Horia Burca, Fiona Burnet, Eilidh Cameron, Fiona Cameron, Lewis Cameron, Laura Dodson, Matthew Gibson, Shumail Javed, Kim Kay, Morna King and Iain Symon.

University entrance has been very strong again this year in a very challenging environment. Applications were successful to a very wide range of high quality universities including Cambridge, St Andrews, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Heriot Watt, Dundee, Stirling, Robert Gordon’s, Strathclyde, Aberdeen, UHI, and the Welsh Conservatoire in a spectrum of undergraduate courses including Medicine, Economics, Law, Accountancy, Teaching, Engineering, Computing, Psychology, Languages, Business, Film, Maths, Geography and Art amongst others.

Well done to all pupils who gave of their very best efforts throughout the year. The achievements of the examinations are secured by solid and consistent hard work. Families and staff are very proud of the grades that you have achieved which represent a terrific achievement.
