Lomond School Cricketers Triumphant against XL Club

Lomond school sport childrenA Lomond School side including 3 FPs faced the Scottish XL Club at Ardencaple on Monday of this week. Batting first, Lomond totalled 207-3 from their 35 overs, Calum Thornton top-scoring with 79, and FP Ollie Curtis making 56. There were also useful contributions from Douglas Willoughby (27) and FP Ewan Bates, who made 21.

The XL Club were soon in trouble when they batted, as S2 pupil James Guy struck with 2 early wickets. He finished with 4-32, and his younger brother Angus with 2-16 as the XL side were dismissed for only 104, Lomond winning by 103 runs to complete successive victories against the visitors.

At the conclusion of the match Colin Neill, Scottish Chairman of the XL Club, presented the school with a shield to mark the best school performance against the Club in 2012.

This Friday at Ardencaple a Parents/FP’s side takes on a Staff/Pupils’ Team (6.30pm start), whilst on Saturday, the school team travels to play Gargunnock Village (12 noon start).
