Lomond Staff and Pupils Team triumph

Lomond school sport childrenLast Friday (21st), a Staff/Pupils’ team took on a Parents/FPs’ side in the annual fixture at Ardencaple. Veteran Martin Everett(20) and South African student Tony de Abru(21) opened for the Staff/Pupils’ team and put on nearly 50 for the first wicket. Junior player Rob Thornton added a useful 17 as his side reached 112 for 8 from their 20 overs. FP Aaron Sterry and parent Frank Willoughby finished with 2 wickets each.

In reply, the Parents/FPs could only manage 74-9, Headmaster Simon Mills top-scoring with 17 not out. David Dodson(15) and Aaron Sterry(13) also made useful contributions as wickets fell to Martin Everett(3-5) and Andrew Willoughby(2-6) as older brother Douglas took 4 stumpings and a catch behind the wicket. The Staff/Pupils’ team won by 38 runs.

This coming Friday a Pupils/FP team faces a Helensburgh Cricket Club side in a memorial match for the Late Richard Coates, who was scorer and fixture secretary for the Club for a number of years and whose two sons, Alasdair and Jonathan, attended Lomond School in the mid-1990s, both of whom were talented cricketers. The match starts at 6.30pm.
