LORETTO LECTURE SPEAKER, MICHAEL MOORE, URGES YOUNG SCOTS TO DEBATE THE FUTURE OF THEIR COUNTRY

The Secretary of State for Scotland, the Right Honourable Michael Moore MP visited Loretto School in Edinburgh Michael Moore MP visited Loretto School, Scotlandto deliver the Autumn Term Loretto Lecture. His lecture, entitled 'A Life in Politics', provided a unique insight into this high profile politician's life, from his earliest inspirations and influences including a childhood in trouble Northern Ireland, early campaigning in Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders, the impact of Sir David Steel on his early political life, the Scottish Parliament, devolution through to his unrivalled work in his constituency of Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk.

Michael Moore MP was keen to address the young people, aged 12 to 18, in the audience representing five local schools and asked them to consider what they wanted for the future of Scotland?

The lecture concluded with the floor being opened for questions. The Secretary of State requested that the school pupils in the audience were given the chance to ask questions of him before any further questions were posed from the gathered adults, which included distinguished guests such as Baroness Linklater.

The now well-established and popular Loretto Lecture continues to attract figures from all walks of life and maintains its unparalleled reputation for international guests and speakers.
