Loretto School’s pupils and staff are celebrating record A Level results. This year saw the School’s best ever examination results with the highest ever A* – C pass rate of 90%. The haul of A* grades (16%) in this year’s A level results was almost double last year’s figure and Loretto’s highest ever.

Despite media reports of a ‘dip in the top grade’, Loretto’s results well outstrip the national average, with the School more than doubling the national A* pass rate and 26% (10% increase on 2012) of its entries being awarded at least an A grade.

The percentage of A* – B grades also increased from 63% to 68% and the overall pass rate was 100%.

Elaine Logan, Acting Head commented, “All credit to our Sixth Formers and to their teachers who have obtained these very good results through hard work and determination. It is encouraging that, as well as continuing to perform strongly in all subjects we have some outstanding results in the Humanities and Mathematics. Adding to our delight at the examination results is the fact that 97% secured places at the university of their choice.
