At the end of January, just before the Chinese New Year, Kayley, Lychee , Jenny and I were invited to Loretto Loretto School Chinese new yearJunior School to teach the Year 4 children about China. It was a really enjoyable and wonderful experience.

We took some interesting objects for the children to look at, as well as some Chinese sweets. We were introduced to a lovely and extremely energetic group of children.

They were very curious about China, especially the old mysterious China. We taught them a Chinese song called ‘Two Tigers’ and shared some stories with them.

We also showed them clothes for a young prince from the time of the Qing Dynasty , traditional small shoes for women from the days of foot binding, and silk that was made in east of China.

The best thing was being with the children and forgetting all the serious academic knowledge, seeing their naïve smiles. Suddenly we all thought we were that age too. It has been a really meaningful experience and we would all love to take part in this kind of activity again if it’s possible. Loretto School Chinese New Year
