LORETTO SCHOOL CROWNED NATIONAL CRICKET CHAMPIONS

LORETTO Junior School has been crowned Scotland's national cricket champions by winning the 2013 ASDA Loretto CricketNational Primary Schools’ at the picturesque Doo’Cot Park in Perth, on Tuesday 18th June.

Over 500 Primary Schools throughout Scotland entered this year's competition making it the biggest Cricket competition in Scotland.

In order to reach Finals’ Day, Loretto Junior School won through a series of Regional Qualifying Tournaments over the last few months.

Now in its fifth season, this is Cricket Scotland’s Development Flagship event for Under-10s has involved Primary Schools annually in a 8-a-side Pairs Kwik Cricket format.

Loretto Junior School beat Drumlamrig and Denholm in a nail-biting final.

Jonathan Hewat, Director of External Affairs at Loretto School, commented, "The standard of cricket on the day was exceptionally high. The boys and girls can be proud of how they represented Loretto Junior School and Scotland with an outstanding team performance. These boys and girls have rewritten our history books and the whole School celebrates their achievements.”
