Loretto School Golf Academy offer to top young talented golfers

WHO said golf was just for the elite?

Loretto School Golf Academy is to offer a ‘life changing’ opportunity to young, talented golfers.

Opportunity for talented Golfers at Lorretto School.

Loretto School and Golf Academy, a boarding and day school for boys and girls aged up to 18 years based in Musselburgh, East Lothian, is offering a life-changing opportunity to young Golfers. Loretto School’s Golf Academy is able to offer Golf Scholarships which, when supplemented by a means-tested Bursary, can be worth up to 100 % of the Loretto School fees.

Loretto’s Golf Scholarships will allow dedicated golfers access to a team of professionals to help improve their game and fitness whilst continuing to receive a first class academic education to prepare them for whatever path they choose to take in life.

The Loretto Golf Academy, established in 2002, is unique amongst schools in the United Kingdom. It offers pupils an exceptional opportunity to develop their sporting talent in tandem with a first-class, all-round education. The academy operates from the School's practice facilities and local golf courses and is directed by the School's resident Golf Professional, Rick Valentine, and a team of top class external coaching professionals.

The academy has had considerable success and is now widely recognised as one of the top golf schools both in the UK and Europe. This last year alone Loretto retained the Independent Schools Golf Association Home Internationals trophy for the second year running, beating teams representing England, Wales and Ireland, clinched victory in both the Independent Schools' Golf Championships at Lingfield Park and also the Hildon Golf Challenge, reaffirming their position as Europe's leading Schools Golf Academy.

The Loretto Golf Academy, perhaps because of its superb location next to the world's oldest playing course, has a strong tradition of top level golf, dating back to its founding in 1827. The surrounding area of East Lothian offers a choice of magnificent links courses.
Over the years former pupils of Loretto have captained many of the best known clubs throughout Scotland and the UK. No fewer than seven Lorettonians have captained The Royal and Ancient Golf Club, St Andrews, whilst eleven have been captain of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, Muirfield and at least ten have been captains at Prestwick.
Jonathan Hewat, Director of External Affairs at Loretto School, said: “Loretto has long had a strong and productive relationship with Golf in Scotland. We are delighted to offer players a year the chance to be offered a life changing experience by attending Loretto School and our Golf Academy. Independent education is notoriously expensive; however, we are keen to make Loretto as accessible as possible.”

The Loretto Golf Scholarship Assessment Days will take place on 21st and 22nd September. In order to be considered for a Golf Scholarship please contact the Admissions Office on 00 44 (0) 131 653 4455 or email admissions@loretto.com
