IT MUST be every budding young golfer's dream to meet and have a private audience with one of the sport's legends.
This opportunity was afforded to members of Loretto School's famous Golf Academy recently when they meet the 'voice of Golf', Peter Alliss at the Borders Book Festival in Melrose recently.
Peter Alliss, an English professional golfer, BBC television presenter and commentator, author and golf course designer is known for his charismatic and unique style of commentary, often displaying a witty demeanour.
Jonathan Hewat, Director of External Affairs at Loretto School, said, "The pupils from our Golf Academy were due to listen to Peter Alliss at the Borders Book Festival. This, in itself, is a treat.
However, thanks to the kindness and generosity of Borders Book Festival organiser, Alistair Moffat, the pupils were allowed to meet with Peter Alliss before his talk and chat with him about Golf-what else– particularly the forthcoming Open Championship taking place shortly not too fat from Loretto School? The pupils were thrilled and something that will remain with them for a long time."
Ollie Duley, 15 from Leicestershire, a boarder at Loretto School and a member of the School's Golf Academy, added," It was a real honour to represent the Loretto Golf Academy and it was great to meet with Peter Alliss."
