Loretto School Pupils Shine as an Outstanding Set of GCSE Results is Revealed

Loretto pupils have achieved outstanding GCSE results bucking the national trend with a 91% pass rate compared to the national average of just 68% . 23% of candidates were awarded A* grades – the School’s best performance since 2006.

Half of all Loretto pupils achieved A*-A grades which is more than double the national average.

In 2012, four Loretto pupils achieved all results at A*& A grades, with 15 pupils achieving all results at A*-B grade. This year, the figure has risen to 10 pupils scoring all A* and A grades, with 28 pupils achieving all results at A*-B grade.

69% achieved all grades at A*-C. This is double last year’s haul.

Loretto’s results were particularly strong in Mathematics, Separate Sciences, Modern Languages and Geography, with high numbers of A* grades.

Elaine Logan, Acting Head at Loretto commented, “We are thrilled with the results and I would like to congratulate all the pupils and staff. They have all worked extremely hard and I am proud of everything they have achieved. This year’s examination results reflect the continued academic excellence at Loretto.
