Under the guidance of Loretto School in Edinburgh’s Director of Cricket, ex-Warwickshire and England professional, Michael Powell, the Loretto Under 13 Cricket team are celebrating winning the championship on home territory.

The long-established Loretto Under 13 Cricket Championship attracts teams from all over the United Kingdom. Although Scotland may not be known for its cricketting prowess, the Loretto Under 13 team beat off stiff opposition from Stewarts Melville College (Edinburgh), Edinburgh Academy and Longridge Towers School (Berwick) to lift the trophy.

The final of the Championship was between Loretto and Edinburgh Academy. The feisty Loretto secured victory with a 5 wicket win.

Jonathan Hewat, Director of External Affairs from Loretto School, commented, "We were treated to a very high standard of Cricket from all the teams and I do congratulate all who took part in our prestigious tournament. Of course, I am delighted that the trophy remains in Scotland and here at Loretto. Winning the tournament was the icing on the cake for our Under 13 boys who have enjoyed a most successful season."
