The evening of Friday 23 November saw some of our most accomplished musicians take the Loretto Theatre stage in front of a packed house, to perform in a wide range of ensemble configurations. Loretto Triumph ensemble

The programme offered something to satiate almost every musical appetite, featuring the gamut of musical styles from 16th century English choral music to arrangements of 21st Century American popular music.

From the opening salvo by Loretto’s excellent Pipes and Drums, it was already obvious to the capacity audience that they were in for a truly memorable evening, and they were certainly not disappointed as all of our musicians acquitted themselves well, many bringing an impressive sense of style and panache to colour their performances.

Full details of the concert programme are given below, but special mention must be made of the school’s Small Choir with their expressive a cappella rendition of Thomas Weelkes’s Let Thy Merciful Ears O Lord and also the fledgling Concert Band for their foot-tappingly enjoyable performance of Forget You, by Cee Lo Green, which preceded a wonderfully powerful concert finale courtesy of the joint forces of Concert Band and Pipe Band playingHeineken Serenade and Largo from Dvorak’s New World Symphony.
