On the surface, Colin Parry's visit to Scotland to mark the 20th anniversary of his son's death at the hands of the Loretto Parry ParlimentIRA of bombing of Warrington was a simple one – to reject violence.

In his only visit north of the border, Colin spent three days meeting with many hundreds of school children and in talks with Scotland's First Minister, Alex Salmond and Minister for Community Safety and Legal Affairs, Roseanna Cunningham.

The visit was arranged by Jonathan Hewat, Director of External Affairs at Loretto School who said, "Colin spoke candidly of his pain at losing his son, Tim, and of his determination to make a difference in society.

He has dedicated his life to conflict resolution and explained the work that is being done, both in this country and abroad to assist people of all ages, races and faiths in order to support those affected by conflict and terrorism, and to break down the prejudices which can lead to future violence.

His strategies were discussed in much detail and his message to the young people he met was uplifting and Loretto Parry Parlimentdetermined."

Colin Parry visited Loretto School, Belhaven Hill School and Musselburgh Grammar School.

Colin's charity, The Tim Parry/Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, is a national and international charity, working to support those affected by conflict, acts of terror and political violence.

Through their work they empower people to use their traumatic experience to do something positive, in their own communities and beyond.
