Loretto School 1st XV runaway winners against rivals Fettes College

THERE has always been a long and proud friendship between Loretto School and Fettes College. Indeed, Scotland's oldest Youth Club, ‘FetLor', was established as a joint venture between Fettes College and Loretto School. The club was initially solely funded by the two schools. FetLor was officially opened on the 2nd January 1924. For the past 85 years, FetLor has provided a safe haven for the young people of Edinburgh.

There is also a Fettesian-Lorettonian Club. This is a sports club which all Old Fettesians and Old Lorettonians may join. Founded when Fettes College and Loretto School were each too small to field viable teams of Old Boys to play the teams of the larger schools, it continues to give an opportunity for friendly co-operation and comradeship between former pupils of the two schools following their previous strong rivalry.

The annual 1st XV Rugby match between Loretto School and Fettes is always a keenly anticipated affair. However, this year's match had added poignancy when it was announced that Loretto 1st XV parent, Mr Sharp, had kindly donated the ‘FetLor Quaich' in memory of his Late father who was an Old Fettesian.

The ‘FetLor Quaich' will be presented to the winning school following the annual Rugby match between Loretto School and Fettes College.

This year's honour went to Loretto School who ran out 32-7 winners.
