The venue was Loretto Chapel and the three schools competing were Musselburgh Grammar, Mansfield school of Music and Loretto.

The first half of the evening was given over to the juniors, up to 16 years of age.

The standard was impressively high across the board in both the vocal and the instrumental categories.

Robbie Hutchison gained second place playing Pencil full of lead on the drum kit.

In the senior category, thirteen year old Robert Ogilvy won the instrumental section playing Debussy’s Arabesque No.1. Robert goes through to the next round of the competition at Heriot Watt University in March.
