Her prize will be an original piece of Professor Cockrill’s art for Lyndhurst School.

Mrs Green is not the only prizewinner from Lyndhurst. Two of her pupils, Joshua Hall, 11, was chosen as the national runner up and Tiger Brash, 9, was selected as a regional winner for the upper juniors category in the annual Junior Painter of the Year competition. Joshua and Tiger’s paintings were selected from over 5,000 entries submitted by young artists across the UK. Their winning artwork will be displayed in a special exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in London alongside original works by the famous artist and illustrator Quentin Blake CBE, and Professor Maurice Cockrill RA, artist and Keeper of the Royal Academy of Arts.

The Visions of the Future exhibition is open daily in the café at the Royal Academy from 15 October to 10 November. Entrance is free. The winning paintings can also be viewed online at www.sightsavers.org/juniorpainter. Mrs Green and her pupils will be visiting the exhibition with Mr Wright, Head of Lyndhurst School on 10 November.
