The School introduced the Higher Project Qualification (HPQ) for the first time this year. This is a highly regarded qualification created to extend students’ research skills. The girls who chose this new challenging course achieved 100% A* – C grades. 98% of girls gained 5 or more grades A* – C including Maths and English with 97% attaining 5 or more grades A* – C including Maths, English and Science. India Wilkinson from Ledbury is celebrating 10 A* grades (all of her subjects). She said “I am shocked. I didn’t dare believe it would come true”. Her mother, Zinnia Wilkinson who is also Pre-Prep Coordinator at Malvern St James said, “I’m ecstatic. India joined MSJ in Year 6 and since then she has blossomed and has been given the opportunity to be herself. MSJ has been so good for her; she loves her school and loves the work. She also has real fun and is not just buried in the books.” India has chosen to study Biology, Chemistry, Latin, Maths and Further Maths A Levels. Elyssia Garland, from Welland, joined MSJ in Year 9 from The Elms Prep School. She achieved 100% in every module for PE. She beamed, “I’m over the moon!”. Cliona Maley from Powick has also achieved 10 A* grades. She said “I’m really pleased I can now celebrate after all the hard work”. Her father Patrick Maley commented, “The hard work by Cliona, combined with the excellent teaching and care at MSJ has achieved a great result. More doors are now open for Cliona and her horizons are broadening.” At A Level, Cliona will be studying Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths and Physics. Patricia Woodhouse, Headmistress, commented, “There is so much for Malvern St James to celebrate today. The girls’ achievements are also fitting testament to the exceptional curriculum that the School continues to develop. The remarkable breadth of subjects we offer brings tremendous opportunities for the girls to develop their intellects and extend their personal learning. I am looking forward to watching the ongoing success of these young students as they continue into our Sixth Form, where they will be the first students to enjoy our fantastic new MSJ Sixth Form Centre, which opens in September.”
