Malvern St James Gold at the National ISA Olympics

winning gold HannahTwo girls from Malvern St James Girls’ School have struck gold at the ISA (Independent Schools Association) National Athletics Finals held at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham on 17th June, where they competed as part of the Midlands team.

Hannah Nolan (Year 9) won the Shot Putt and took bronze in Discus for her age group. Building on a superb season, Hannah Tapley (Year 9) won the High Jump and set a new ISA national record and personal best with a jump of 1.62 metres.

Only days before this win, talented Hannah represented Hereford & Worcester at the ‘Mason Trophy’ consolidating her excellent performances to date by finishing 2nd in the Junior Girls High Jump beating two girls who are currently ranked number one in the country

Fellow MSJ student Natalie White (Year 11) also competed at the ‘Mason Trophy’ event in the Javelin, throwing a personal best of 34.48 metres in the Intermediate Girls event. Both Natalie White and Hannah Tapley have qualified for the ESAA Championships in July.

“I am very proud of all our talented athletes,” said Patricia Woodhouse, Headmistress, Malvern St James Girls’ School. “This level of national performance is outstanding – it has been an exceptional term for Athletics at MSJ.”
