The annual Herefordshire & Worcestershire County U16 Hockey Tournament took place on the 2nd  October at Bromsgrove School.

The MSJ team beat The Chase School 4-0 and Kings Worcester 2-0, before playing Bromsgrove in the Semi Finals and claiming a 1-0 win. The team then faced local rivals Malvern College in a tense Final. Following a goalless draw, the competition went into penalty flicks and victory for Malvern St James.

Special mention must be given to MSJ Goalkeeper Romilly Moran, for making some phenomenal saves, and Players of the Tournament Teya Thomas and Penny Green. The MSJ U16 team now go through to the Regional Hockey Finals in November.

Only a few weeks earlier, this U16 team’s winning streak began, with a clear-sweep victory at this year’s annual national ISA 7-a-side Hockey competition, which took place at St Edward’s School, Cheltenham on Saturday 21September.  The MSJ team won all their matches to be crowned ISA National 7-aside Hockey Champions 2013.

“Our talented Hockey players are a force to be reckoned with,” said Mrs Patricia Woodhouse, Headmistress, Malvern St James Girls’ School.  “Each squad member has demonstrated that hard work, dedication, excellent skills and teamwork ensure unbeatable results! They are a real credit to the superb sports provision we offer here at MSJ, the county’s leading School for girls’ sport.”
