Congratulations to our riders for an exceptional performance at Hickstead on Friday. Mayfield won the National Eventers Challenge Open Team and Individual Championships, competing against teams from as far afield as Cornwall and North Yorkshire. Competition was fierce and the final positions were very close. Mayfield also came third in the Open and were runners up in the Intermediate teams.
The courses were technical and included banks, dips, steps and a water splash. Time was tight, which caused a number of riders to make errors.
This success follows on from the National County Show jumping title that we won in April, which involved a number of different members of the riding squad. It is a great asset to have such strength and depth in our squad. Whilst other schools may be able to field a team, our recent successes stem from our numbers. Having so many fine riders raises the standard of our teams and also gives us plenty of options during the selection process.
