Mayfield School were delighted to sponsor Political Pioneers with Anita Anand, Caroline Lucas MP and screenwriter Abi Morgan this year at the Charleston Festival. It was an obvious choice for us, as our foundress was herself a pioneer in education. Empowered, visionary women, making their mark on the world resonates strongly with the Mayfield ethos and we were thrilled to be a part of this very special event.
Anita Anand, presenter of Any Answers on BBC Radio 4, has received critical acclaim for her book “Sophia: Princess, Suffragette, Revolutionary” which tells the story of an Indian princess who became a leading figure in the fight for Indian independence and the UK suffragette movement. Caroline Lucas’ Honourable Friends: Parliament and the Fight for Change is a revealing account of the workings behind Westminster from the perspective of the first Green Party MP, several times voted as the UK’s most ethical politician. The event was chaired by Abi Morgan, playwright and screenwriter of The Iron Lady and Suffragette, to be released this year.
The event was truly inspiring and left a captivated audience wanting more.
