Mayfield Animal Farm PosterThe outdoor production, set in the grounds of Mayfield School, runs for three nights on June 9, 10 and 11.

Drama teacher, Sally Gerstmeyer, said: “The production’s aim is to capture the attention, amuse, horrify and encourage us to suspend our disbelief of talking animals.  During the final scene the audience are asked to see the animals not just as surrogate human beings but as animals in their own right, asserting the integrity of the natural world and the harm that man’s ill-considered intervention can do to it.”

‘Animal Farm’ is an ensemble piece of theatre with a cast of 34 pupils from years 7 to 10. It is a play of two Acts with a brief interval. The performances start at 7.00pm – because this is an outdoor production the audience are encouraged to bring outdoor chairs or picnic blankets to sit on.
