We welcomed Mr Steve Clark to our assembly on Monday. Steve is undertaking an incredible challenge to help 
raise funds for PROMISEworks, a charity that supports a county-wide mentoring service for young people and children.
The programme targets the most disaffected, disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people in Somerset. Its aim is to support 150 long term mentoring relationships each year.
We heard how many children, very close to us, are not having their physical and emotional needs met. Mentors are adults who young ones can learn to trust and who are there to support them now and into the future.
Steve (pictured right) is a mentor and true to the spirit of making and keeping promises, has committed to running the 50 mile Mendip Way, not once but 12 times! He will run a total of 600 miles, 23,472m of ascent and the equivalent of 23 marathons during 2013.
