GCSE’s Results
Another results day, another celebration at Monkton Senior School, as pupils and staff celebrated the best ever pass rate at GCSE for Monkton pupils. In addition roughly one in five pupils got seven A* grades or more, with two gaining an outstanding result of 12 A* grades; one of these pupils even got an A* in Afrikaans!
Richard Backhouse, Principal of the school, commented: “These pupils have shown extraordinary progress and determination, and collaboration with their teachers. They have been extremely successful academically, taking GCSE exams in their stride, while also pursuing interests in sport, music, drama, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and the performing arts. Although the media tends only to celebrate academic success at results time, we should recognise that this outstanding success comes alongside lives rich with other pursuits.”
