Moreton Girl Becomes National Winner of Cranmer Awards

Moreton Hall National ChampionFrom a highly polished field of sixteen outstanding contestants from across the UK, 17 year old Moreton Hall student, Phoebe Griffith, came away as the senior national champion.
The Cranmer Awards Senior National Final, held at The Charterhouse in the City of London on March 3rd, is a competition of readings from the Book of Common Prayer – 1662.
Phoebe spoke the Epistle and Gospel from The Sunday Called Quinquagesima. Prizes were presented by The Bishop of London, the Right Reverend and Right Honourable Richard Chartres, the Ecclesiastical Patron of the Prayer Book Society.
‘We have a strong tradition of success in Spoken English,’ explains Jonathan Forster, Principal of Moreton Hall. ‘We are also proud to now have had two National Champions of the Cranmer Awards, as former pupil, Jennifer Hazan, held the title in 2004’.
