In a tradition of producing outstanding young business women, Moreton’s Year 10 students excelled at this year’s ‘Entrepreneurs Live’ conference in Manchester on November 16th, being awarded second place for their business idea.
Head of Business Studies, Catherine Ashworth explains: ‘Prior to the conference, the delegates were invited to take part in a competition (run by MOMA foods – a real business) which involved them submitting a powerpoint presentation outlining their idea for a new breakfast product. Elaina McAllister, Molly Edwards and Sarah Grace Spencer submitted an entry, and only found out on arrival at the conference that they were one of 6 teams shortlisted to present their idea in front of 400 delegates and a panel of judges. They did Moreton proud and delivered a confident, innovative and professional pitch. The judges were equally impressed and awarded them second prize (£60 cash). Considering they were by far the youngest students to take part (all the other teams were made up of sixth formers) they deserve huge congratulations.’
