For the second year running Moreton Hall has been ranked as the top independent school nationally for ‘Value Added’ on academic success.
MidYIS (Middle Years Information System) was designed by Durham University and aims to go beyond the analysis of league tables. ThMoreton Hall Girls e system assesses pupils in Year 7 and predicts what each individual child’s predicted GCSE marks will be. It then cross references that prediction with the actual GCSE results of that child as they conclude Year 11 and identifies who has achieved beyond or below expectations.
‘For schools which are non-selective this is a powerful tool for assessing how much the school manages to ‘value add’ to a child’s education,’ explains Principal of Moreton Hall, Jonathan Forster. ‘Coming out as the number 1 independent school in the UK for Value Added for a second year is a great achievement for us. We have a very strong Enrichment Programme in place at Moreton which aims to stretch girls of all ability levels above and beyond what they might think they are capable of. It goes well beyond the curriculum. They are fizzing with excitement about learning, which is a pleasure to witness.’
As well as ranking as the Number 1 independent school (and number 2 of all schools) nationally for Value Added, Moreton Hall has also enjoyed its best examination results ever in 2011, ranking it 41st for A Level results (The Times) and as the highest non-selective independent school nationally for GCSE results (The Times).
