The National Schools’ Lacrosse Championships, held annually at Imperial College, London is the pinnacle of the schools’ lacrosse calendar, bringing together the very best qualifying teams in the country.
On day 1 of the 2 day tournament (March 2 and 3) the Moreton Hall 1st Team won five of its six matches – against impressive rivals including St Albans, Putney High, Kings Canterbury, Coloma, and St James – qualifying the girls for the Championship Group on day two. By the close of the championship, Moreton Hall was ranked in the Top 10 teams nationally. A significant achievement.
Head of PE, Kate Groves, comments: ‘We have been making substantial investments into Lacrosse in recent years both in terms of the quality of coaching and the time spent on development. Our resultant 1st Team is amongst the best we have ever had and the emerging under 15s are going to be equally impressive.’
The U15 Team mirrored the great performance of the 1st Team at their National Championships held on Tuesday 6 March making it through to the quarterfinals. ‘These girls show tremendous potential and with the school’s focus on Lacrosse they will develop into a formidable 1st team. The quarter final was a fantastic match which pushed every player on the pitch to perform at their best,’ adds Kate Groves.
