New government guidelines introduced this summer have threatened to disappoint this year’s A Level candidates. Yet Moreton Hall students have managed to outperform the national trend and the school’s own predictions with 92% of grades being at A*-C.
‘It has been no secret that the government’s new guide lines for A Level marking were going to make A Levels tougher this year’, explains Principal, Jonathan Forster, ‘The Telegraph reported today that over a third of students have fallen short of predicted grades, so we are very pleased that we can announce that fifty percent of our candidates actually exceeded A Level expectations – a great accolade to the teaching and hard work of the girls at Moreton. The girls achieved a one hundred percent pass rate, with 35% achieving straight A*s and As and 92% of grades at A*-C .’
Over 80% of the Moreton students have already had news of acceptances from their first choice of university including Imperial, Bristol, Edinburgh, St Andrews and Durham. Phoebe Griffith and Gabrielle Harrison have been accepted by Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
