Moreton Hall pupils Morgan Darcy Rees-Deacon and Georgina Lang (both Year 10) were awarded top accolades by Rotary International at the Youth Speaks Regional Finals last weekend.
The girls were members of two Moreton teams which had qualified for the third round of the competition with Morgan Darcy voted the best ‘Vote of Thanks’ in the senior category and Georgina the best ‘Speaker’ in the intermediate category.
The senior team of Mary Richardson (Speaker), Kitty Davenport (Chair) and Morgan Darcy impressed the judges with their talk entitled ‘One Step Forward’, discussing the proposal to financially reward GPs for diagnosing dementia.
The Junior team of Emily King (Chair), Romy Grigg (Vote of Thanks) and Georgina examined the benefits of learning poetry by heart with their talk ‘Off by heart’.
Feedback from the judges for both teams and for Moreton Hall was impressive.
