We are thrilled to announce that yet again, our sixth form girls at The Mount School have excelled in their A Level results. The gates opened early this morning for students and parents eager to get their hands on the results envelopes. Needless to say, there were a number of happy teary eyes among girls, families and teachers alike.
Half of the girls collecting their results today have been awarded at least one A* with exceptional pass rates seen in English where 100% have received A’s or A*’s. In Arts subjects, two thirds of the students have received an A* with three girls now able to take up their offers at Central St Martins, the world-class centre for Art and Design in London.
One student, Eloise Lake, who has been with us since she was three years old, has succeeded in gaining three A*’s and two A’s, the marks required to secure her place at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. Having watched Eloise grow over the past 15 years we are all absolutely delighted for her and wish her every success in her future studies.
Eve Ainscough, previously a Mount pupil, rejoined us two years ago for sixth form. We are very proud to announce that Eve, who focused on STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) at A Level has performed spectacularly, today receiving four A*s. Eve, who herself is over the moon with the results, puts it down to “the last two years living in a smaller and more close-knit community”. Eve has always planned to spend the year after A Levels volunteering abroad with a medical organisation before making her application to study medical school in early autumn. Her results now make this dream a reality.
Another successful student, Georgina Ellis, will be taking up her place to study Economics at Nottingham University. Georgina has immersed herself in school life and was Deputy Head Girl last year as well as Head of Charities. It was for this reason that Georgina was awarded The Mount’s much-coveted Lydia Rous Scholarship recognising both her academic achievement and wider contribution to the school.
Celia Wood, received an A* for her Extended Project Qualification where she spent time with the National Trust developing visitor leaflets for Goddards (famously the home of the Terry’s Chocolate family.) Her project focused on the Arts and Crafts Movement which is a theme for visitors touring the house in 2015. The leaflet was a big success and the National Trust were so impressed that they had the leaflet printed for use at Goddards. We are sure that we will be hearing more stories like this from Celia in the coming years.
All of our girls have performed well this year with half of them receiving an A or above. Principal, Julie Lodrick, said “I’m so pleased for the girls. They’ve all worked hard and I hope that they all enjoy the next stage of their lives at university. We really are one big family, so we will miss them all greatly.”
