Myles PillageFollowing on from his victory in the British Triathlon Championships in April, Plymouth College Head Boy, Myles Pillage, has been picked as one of two GB pentathlon juniors to join the Olympic Ambition Programme in Rio.

The programme is funded by the British Olympic Association and gives athletes from a range of sports, with future Olympic potential, the opportunity to attend the Games in Rio.

First up Myles, 18, will attend the GB kitting out day and experience a multi-event preparation environment. He will then head out to Rio for the last week of the Games to watch the pentathlon competition and soak up the atmosphere.

“It is such an honour to be selected,” said Myles. “I have never watched a live event at a big competition so I am really excited to be able to do that.  I think being there and seeing it all happening will make it more real that this could be me competing in the future.  That will be really inspiring.”

Leading up to the Games Myles is competing in the World Youth A Pentathlon Championships in Ireland and the European Youth A Championships in Barcelona. He then plans to join the Bath University pentathlon squad before hopefully taking up a place to read Biomedical Science in 2017.
