picRatcliffe College is delighted to announce that Olivia Back has been selected for the England Hockey U18 squad following on from a successful Futures Cup.  A total of the top 108 girls had made it through the hockey single system process, and were up for selection, with only 34 being selected for the National Squad. Olivia attended her first National Training Camp over the weekend of the 11th – 13th November, which went very successfully.  She is now looking forward to representing them in forthcoming fixtures and earning her first cap at U18 level.

Mr Danny Willcock, Head of Hockey  at Ratcliffe, said, “Olivia works extremely hard at her hockey both at school anfinleyd for Leicester Ladies 1st team who play in the national premier league and she has really matured as a player this year.  She is thoroughly deserving of her ‘call up’ and is a great hockey inspiration to rest of the girls at school.”

Olivia’s brother, Finley Back, aged 14, has been offered a scholarship at Nottingham Foresowent Football Academy after he sits his GCSEs.

Owen Lloyd, aged 14, has made it through to England Hockey U15 HIPAC this year, which, in turn, is the highest achievement he can earn at U15 level.  Owen again is very passionate about his hockey and works incredibly hard to improve further.   Danny Willcock said, “It would be fantastic to see him build on this achievement next year and earn a place in the England U16 squad.  A massive congratulations to our players on what has been a successful season for them so far.”
