Next year will see big changes to senior staff in the school. We are saying goodbye to Mrs Mortimer, Head of Juniors, and aim to give her a good send off.

Our new Head of Juniors will, however, be a familiar face to many pupils and parents. Mrs Wells, currently teaching science, will take on this demanding role

Born and brought up in Yorkshire, Mrs Wells moved to Cambridge to read Biological Sciences with Education at Homerton College. In 2002 she graduated with a BEd Hons degree and after completing her final placement, she was offered the position of Head of Science at Town Close House Preparatory School in Norwich where she taught for eight years. In February 2010 she moved to Hethersett Old Hall School to teach girls in key stage 3.

What is Mrs Wells looking forward to in her new role? She told us:

‘Hethersett is such an inspiring school to teach in; the pupils are enthusiastic, have a love of learning and are given the chance to pursue their intellectual passions. I am looking forward to all the new challenges ahead in my role as Head of Juniors. I aim to continue the fantastic work of the department but also develop our curriculum to include even more drama, music and technology.’

Mr Crump said: ‘We are delighted Mrs Wells has accepted the post. She is a very dynamic colleague and I am sure she will carry on and develop all the wonderful things that make our junior department so successful.’

A mum herself with two children, Mrs Wells understands the importance of excellent home – school relationships and good communication in ensuring a happy education for pupils.
